Logo design for a second edition of a Jimi Hendrix collectible figure. To create the look of a worn album cover over the logo, I took a photo copy and physically scratched the copy with a sanding pad until I was satisfied with the look.
For this cartoon style NFL figure line logo, I wanted the type to be playful like the figures were.
For the military line of action-figures logo, I actually made a physical stencil for the word McFarlane’s and sprayed painted it on a piece of canvas. I then frayed it up and scanned it in to work with the rest of the type in Photoshop.
As the series of Movie Maniacs action figures grew, I wanted to give each series their own identity through the logo.
Here is another example of giving this series it’s own identity. This series was a collection of “Alien” figures through the different movies.
This spawn series was a departure from the normal, dark and gritty Spawn lines. These figures were clean lines - a cartoon style.
This logo was for a building block system for young children. Usually you never want to use black in a young child’s product, but this fit the bill and stands out because of it.
This one was a collaboration effort with one of the designers on my team. It’s a great feeling when you can give direction and the designer takes it where you want it . . . and sometimes further. Thanks Ramsey.
This design was accomplished mixing medias. The eye was a real photo of one of my co-workers where I did some post work as his iris was normal size and his eye wasn’t bloodshot. Thanks Dave.
This logo is for my business with my brother. The shovel represents the work ethic our parents instilled in us as kids. Our dad often had chores for us to do, before we could go out in the neighborhood and play.
Sometimes a logo doesn’t need to be complicated to convey the right feeling. Simple color and the right typeface will do that.
